For the Runway Film Festival 2024, I made a fictional short film inspired by a historical legend that had shaped my childhood.

Growing up in the Touraine region of France — and more specifically in Chinon — Joan of Arc has always been an important historical figure, both at school and in the town's architecture. I grew up surrounded by statues and legends bearing her image. She was the first model of a strong, independent woman to whom I was exposed, and she fascinated me. 

For this competition, I decided to make her my own and rewrite her story through a short film using only AI-generated images animated on Runway.

"This short film follows the journey of a young woman in armor attempting to escape an unknown threat. Visions overwhelm her on the run, eventually causing her downfall. Are these memories? Premonitions? Suddenly, calm and then hope. The run turns into a quest. She takes to the road again with one goal in mind: to fight for her place in the world and defy fate. A crowd awaits her. Under the eyes of her sisters-in-arms, the kingdom will become hers. She's seen it. They say fire burns. Even more so when it comes from within. And ours burns fiercely."
